Cartier, We Are Apart But Together!

Paul and I met each other, because of a business deal. He was the sales manager of Wal-Mart, and he was responsible for England region. And that day, he came to our law firm. He had some disputes with one of their big clients. My boss asked me to receive him. The first time I saw him, I didn’t feel that he was a sales manager. Somehow, I thought he may not be a businessman. He quietly sat there and seemed like he was seeing nothing. I felt that maybe his mind had been thousands of miles away. When we began to talk about the issue, I realized that he was really a businessman. He described the dispute briefly in a few words. And from his words, I could tell he was a very smart person. He had a very clear mind and he could grab the point very quickly. What’s more, he was eloquent. After exchanging the views about the issue, we made a date to meet the client together. That day, when we met with his client and I explained those legal repercussions to him, Paul showed his eloquence again. Finally, his client agreed to have a compromise. Paul invited me to dinner, just for celebrating our success. During dinner, I joked that if he were a lawyer, his name may have been listed on Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. He looked at me for a while and said “I want you to be my girlfriend. You don’t need to answer me now. Tomorrow I am on a business trip to London for two days. After I come back, I hope I could hear your answer. And if you agree, let me know.” That day, I didn’t remember how I got home. My head ached. How could that happen? Why would he say that? I asked for two days off, for under this condition, I couldn’t work well. At the end of second day, I made my decision. I went to a shopping mall and buy two Cartier Tonneau watches. The day I made my decision, I thought of this kind of watch I had read in a fashion magazine before. At that time, I just felt that this kind of watch strange. But now I thought that it was just designed for Paul and me. Paul was always on business trip to London, which meant that sometimes we would be apart in two different cities and we were in two different time zones. It was not convenient to calculate each other’s time. But this Cartier watch may, to some degree, so *** e our problem. It had two dials. One could show the time of London, the other NY. Although we were apart, we were still together, knowing each other’s time.  I sent one to him. I thought he could understand my decision and meaning. The other day, he went to pick me up with the Cartier watch on his wrist. I smiled at him. He showed me the watch and said “one dial shows your time and the other London.” As expected, he was clever. I then took out my watch. And we both laughed.
